I feel that every aspect of GPS trackers being implanted in people or in old people's shoes is a ridiculous violation of privacy and should absolutely not be done. I can understand why some people would like it for young children but at what point does it just become too much? If it starts with only children under 5, how long is it until someone complains that their older kids should have a tracking device as well? I know that I wasn't always where I told my parents I would be, but I wasn't doing anything I shouldn't have been. People grew up without having cellphones so they weren't in constant contact with one another so I don't feel like all of a sudden we need to know where people are at all times of the day. Also, I believe we each have a right to be where we want, when we want without others having to know (as long as we're not doing anything dangerous or harmful). If this happens, the government will eventually get access to our whereabouts and if they can get it, then other people, mainly "bad guys", will then be able to access that information and that could potentially put people at risk.
Having said this, I do not have any young children or anyone close to me with dementia or Alzheimer's. My thoughts on this subject could easily change if my situation were to change, but for now I am very strongly against any kind of GPS tracking in people.
I completely agree, the idea of implanting tracking devices into people seems like the biggest violation of privacy, no matter how old you are. There are other ways to keep children safe other than computer chipping them.
